硅对硬质合金有腐蚀作用。虽然一般将超过12%Si的铝合金称为高硅铝合金,推荐使用金刚石刀具,但这不是绝对的,硅含量逐渐增多对刀具的破坏力也逐渐加大。因此有些厂商在硅含量超过8%时就推荐使用金刚石刀具。

刀具的容屑空间要大,一般建议用2齿,前角、后角要大(如12°-14°,包括端齿后角)。
